The State Cyber Protection Centre of SSSCIP Specialists Exchanged Experience with Akamai Representatives

07.10.2024

A delegation from the State Cyber Protection Centre of the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine (SCPC SSSCIP) visited the Akamai office in Krakow, Poland. During the visit, the Center's specialists participated in workshops and discussion panels, where they discussed challenges in cyberspace faced by both government and private entities.

Russian hackers continue their attempts to gain access to information that could give them an advantage during the war and to infiltrate information systems of government institutions, particularly through phishing campaigns. Therefore, protection against phishing campaigns and effective countermeasures against modern methods of automation and mimicking human behavior used for attacks were the main topics of the workshops on the first day of the visit.

The second day was dedicated to a conference that served as a platform for discussing two key topics: challenges in cyberspace faced by states, as well as tools and advanced cybersecurity strategies that enable countering attacks.

Deputy Head of the Department of the State Cyber Protection Centre of SSSCIP, Oleksandr Rudenko, shared with conference participants the experience of Ukrainian cyber defenders in countering russian cyberattacks. He drew attention to the constant evolution of approaches and tactics of enemy hackers, as well as the tools they use. This is important for understanding that cybersecurity must be an ongoing process that ensures continuous strengthening of system protection, flexibility, and the ability to quickly adapt to ever-changing challenges in cyberspace.

On the third day of the visit, specialists from the State Cyber Protection Centre of SSSCIP visited the NOCC and SOCC of Akamai’s office in Krakow, where they had the opportunity to exchange experiences in using best practices for maintaining network resilience and mitigating the effects of cyberattacks in real-time.

As a reminder: Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Akamai has been providing active technical and technological support to Ukraine, enabling the enhancement of cyber resilience of Ukrainian information systems.
